VAE I R&D Outcomes

Visit Arctic Europe project aim was to develop tourism industry in the VAE area widely. In order to ensure that the project actions during the development and marketing activities are justified and effective from the perspective of the objectives set out, stakeholders need analyzed and updated information on the R&D activities.

Visit Arctic Europe projects R&D analysis: 

Consortium of universities: University of Tromsø (UiT), Luleå University of Technology (LTU), University of Lapland (UL) and Multidimensional Tourism Institute (MTI), implemented these R&D activities for VAE project.

Indicators of Success

Mission 1: Create relevant indicators and measurement tools that are needed to ensure the success of activities and outputs produce by the VAE project. And to develop indicators which will measure the relevance of the project and the sustainability of the VAE objectives. These indicators assist the VAE project management in evaluating how the implemented activities are supporting the achievement of desired goals.

Future Travel Trends

Mission 2: Gather future travel trends studies relevant to VAE area that have been made in past years globally.
Future travel trends studies have been made in past years globally. The aim was to make an analysis of those studies and create a summary report relevant for the VAE project.

Analysis of digital trends in tourism and customer digital and mobile behaviour

Mission 3: Assemble and analyse recent studies in digital trends in tourism and customer digital mobile behaviour.
Analysis of digital trends in tourism and customer digital and mobile behaviour studies have been made in past years globally. Target was to make an analysis of those studies and create a summary report relevant for Visit Arctic Europe tourism industry.

Obstacles in cross-border cooperation

Mission 4: Identity obstacles of cross-border cooperation in the VAE area. The mission has been conducted by experts (on cross-border cooperation, tourism service development, qualitative analysis and international project management) based in the three VAE countries.

Aims of the VAE project was to create cross-border travel packages and to ease cross-border accessibility in the VAE area. Target of this report was to get a report where obstacles have been noticed from travelers’, delivery chains’, local service providers’ and transport operators’ point of view. Additionally, the report  contains suggestions on how to minimize noticed obstacles.
